Immigration Reform?

An October 14 New York Times editorial made a call for national immigration reform.

The NYT identified the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill, currently pending in the Senate, as “the most workable solution” to the problems of the U.S. immigration system. But the editorial only discussed the portion of the bill allowing those immigrants who are unlawfully present to pay a fine and move to the back of the legalization line. More comprehensive discussions of the rest of the bill, and more importantly, of the full scope of the problems plaguing our immigration system, are still needed.
