Homeland security is an transcendently important objective, no doubt. However, this bait and switch ploy isn’t likely to capture anyone related to terrorism, instead it will inevitably lead to some dishwashers, cooks, and gardeners. If ICE’s main objective is to catch al Qaeda terrorists, it should focus all of its resources appropriately and let any undocumented dishwashers and cooks found on military bases alone. For those who think that the undocumented have no business being on military bases and other sensitive national defense installations, we draw their attention to the fact that the undocumented have frequented served honorably in combat and that the Hall of Heroes in the Pentagon is replete with a disproportionately higher number of immigrants.
