Specter Still Looks for Immigration Deal
Despite the collapse of a bipartisan deal on immigrationlegislation, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee expressedoptimism on Sunday that senators can pass a bill when they return fromvacation.
“I think tempers will cool over a two-week period. Andalso, there are going to be some expressions by many people veryunhappy with the Senate not passing a bill and very unhappy with theHouse bill” that would make being an illegal immigrant a felony, saidSen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa.
