Middle America Sues Feds for Immigrant Visa Delay

The top story from today’s online Chronicle of Higher Education is that the University of Nebraska at Lincoln has sued the U.S. government to try to force it to respond to a petition the institution filed 21 months ago as part of the process of hiring a Bolivian historian. Observers say the lawsuit appears to be the first time that a higher-education institution has gone to court in recent years to counter what critics say is a growing number of cases in which the government has kept out foreign scholars for ideological reasons.
