NEW BOOK: Memoirs of a Lechuguero

Lucio Padilla, recipient of the “Migrant Alumni of the Year” award at the California 2006 Migrant State Convention, is a junior high school teacher in Calexico, in the Imperial County of California (and on the U.S./Mexico border). He recently published a memoir— Memoirs of a Lechuguero by Lucio Padilla. The book describes Padilla’s childhood in a migrant farm working family, a young lettuce picker, and eventual choice to become a teacher.
