Napolitano Supports E-Verify

225pxjanetnapolitanoiraq The Daily Record reports that U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has expressed support for E-Verify and wants to see it extended beyond the Sept. 30 expiration date.  She said that “he Obama administration hasn’t taken a position on whether or not to make E-Verify mandatory for all U.S. employers.”  There has been controversy about the rate of errors on the system, which has been the subject of considerable litigation.

Under Arizona law (which was upheld by the Ninth Circuit), where Napalitano was governor before heading to D.C., employers were required to check the eligibility of new hires through E-Verify.
