ABC’s John Quiñones Goes Undercover

ABC’s Emmy award winning newsman John Quiñones went undercover to show the potential for racial profiling under Arizona’s SB 1070.  The tack that he used, including the hiring of actors, has provoked controversy (and here).  Among others, Maricopa County’s infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio criticized the segment.  I guess that with crime and immigration down in Arizona, Sheriff Joe has time to devote to teh PR part oif his job! 

Quiñones, a native of San Antonio, Texas, posed as a customer in a restaurant who is asked by a security guard asked for his papers.

For what it is worth, I thought that Quiñones did an impressive job as a moderator for a panel that I participated in on immigration at an academic conference last March.
