EOIR 2009 Statistical Report Released

The Executive Office of Immigration Review has just released its 2009 statisfical yearbook. The statistical year book presents information about the cases that the EOIR handled during fiscal year 2009. Hard copies of the publication are not currently available to the public, but a user-friendly version is available.  Download FY09StatsYearbook030210FINAL  A few highlights include:

Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and China were the leading nationalities of immigration court completions during FY 2009, representing 69 percent of the total caseload.

Thirty-nine percent of persons whose cases were completed in immigration courts during FY 2009 were represented.

The grant rate for asylum applications was 47 percent in FY 2009. The grant rate was 55 percent for affirmative applications and 36 percent for defensive applications.
