House backs legal challenge to Obama on immigration
The Associated Press reports that the U.S. House of Representatives voted yesterday to support the legal challenge in the Supreme Court to President Barack Obama’s expanded deferred action program. Republicans hold a commanding majority in the House and characterized President Obama’s deferred action program as exceeding his constitutional authority. The vote was 234-186 in favor of authorizing Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to file a friend-of-the-court brief in the case of United States v. Texas. The lawsuit was brought by26 states, led by Texas. The Supreme Court is set to hear arguments in the case in April.
