Between DACA and the Muslim ban, it’d be understandable if your attention has been focused on immigration problems inside the US. But you should be aware of the latest international migration crisis.

Rohingya Muslims have been fleeing Buddhist-majority Myanmar for Bangladesh. In the last three weeks alone, some 290,000 Rohingya have fled their country. They say that their villages have been burned by the Myanmar military. The military denies this, though it does say that it has been fighting Rohingya “terrorists.”

Prominent (if informal) Myanmar leader – Aung San Suu Kyi – has been exhorted to speak out against the persecution of the Rohingya. She has not. As the BBC notes, there is “little domestic pressure to help the Rohingya” who are a minority group in the nation.

There’s loads of reading out these on these issues. Check out the BBC’s wonderful coverage here, here, and here. This article from Amnesty International is also informative.
