ABA Spotlight on Notario Fraud

This month’s ABA Journal shines on spotlight on notario fraud. In Legal Prey, journalist Lorelei Laird highlights how “legal-services fraud jumps every time there’s a change in the law.” In the wake of the many high-profile changes in immigration law over the past year, immigrants have been “frighten[ed]… into the arms of cut-rate fake attorneys.”

In a companion article, Laird notes that notario fraud is “extremely underreported,” making it hard to understand the full scope of the problem.
