Immigrant Toddler Dies Shortly After Release from Detention
In yet another tragic and avoidable development in the asylum and detention context, a young toddler who was being detained in Dilley, TX died after contracting a respiratory infection in detention and subsequently being released from custody. VICE News first covered the story. The law firm Arnold & Porter has since filed a lawsuit against the City of Eloy, AZ (which, interestingly, serves as the official contractor for the Dilley jail, according to NPR)here.
