NYT: Transfer of Unaccompanied Children to Unregulated Tent City in Tornillo, TX

Caitlin Dickerson at the New York Times has written a breaking story on the government’s movement of detained migrant children into a single detention facility in Tornillo, Texas. The article tells of children at Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) facilities across the country being woken up in the middle of the night and sent to the new facility, which offers no school, makeshift housing, and limited access to legal services.  The sharp increases in the detention of children as well as this latest development seem connected to the Trump Administration’s broader policy of maximizing cruelty towards children in the name of border control.
