Haiti Devastated by Earthquake, Will the U.S. Step Up to Help the Haitian People?

My heart breaks over the devastation in Haiti following the deadly earthquake this weekend. ⁰⁰I pray for the safety, recovery, and health of all those affected and remain committed to doing all we can to support Haiti’s full economic and political recovery.

Congresswoman Cori Bush is getting national attention (and here).  She took a courageous stand on evictions and changed the entire course of things for the nation.  Now she is taking a stand with Haitians devastated by political turmoil and natural disaster. 

It is a tough time for refugees.  Many Americans worry about numbers.  We can expect a flow of refugees from Afghanistan.    Will we be willing, for example, to accept more Haitians?  President Trump worried about too many noncitizens from “s—hole countries,”  including Haiti. We will see how the Biden administration responds.
