Guatemalan minor dies in Mississippi poultry plant accident
NPR reported in May that immigrant child labor in dangerous industries was a widespread problem. The Guardian (UK) reports on a recent tragic example. A 16-year-old from Guatemala died a week ago after suffering a workplace injury at a poultry plant in Mississippi.
Duvan Tomas Perez died at a poultry plant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, about two hours outside of Jackson, NBC News reported. He migrated to the United States six years ago from the town of Huispache and was a middle school student.
