Immigration Key to USA Defeat of Pakistan in ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024
Y‘all. The US of A beat Pakistan at CRICKET today. No joke. Cricket. The victory came at the end of a “thrilling ‘super over’ match.” That is to say, the teams were tied after “20 overs” (translation: regular play) and then sealed the deal in “a super over” (translation: overtime).
I had a hunch that immigration just might explain Team USA’s “historic” victory. And I was right. Of the 11 players for Team USA in the game against Pakistan, 7 were born overseas:
- Monank Patel, Team Captain and “Man of the Match” for the Pakistan game, was born in Gujarat, India.
- Andries Gustav Stephanus Gous was born in Welkom, South Africa.
- Nitish Roenick Kumar was born in Scarborough, Ontario.
- Corey James Anderson was born in Christchurch, New Zealand.
- Harmeet Singh Baddhan was born in Mumbai, India.
- Saurabh Naresh Netravalkar was also born in Mumbai, India.
- Muhammad Ahsan Ali Khan was born in Attock, Pakistan.
Full disclosure, I had no idea that the US even had a cricket team until today. And so, I just had to include this amazing tweet:
Americans: cricket is a dumb game
USA: wins 1 match
