Call for AG resignation

As the top official of the Department of Justice, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales oversees the federal employees responsible for adjudicating immigration cases as well as those responsible for charging and prosecuting immigration crimes.  In an op-ed dated 3/11, the NYTimes is calling for his resignation — something that Sen. Specter hinted at during hearings on Thursday.  The op-ed does not mention immigration, focusing instead on the recent controversies around the FBI’s illegal use of national security letters and Gonzales’ defense of the President’s warrantless wiretapping program.  It is here.
