NYU Immigration Clinic Seeking Stories

Students from the Immigrant Rights Clinic at NYU School of Law in collaboration with the NYSDA Immigrant Defense Project are preparing to write an amicus curiae brief in support of the petition for certiorari being filed with the US Supreme Court in United States v. Sanchez-Villalobos. This troubling federal criminal illegal reentry decision from the 5th Circuit held that an immigrant with two misdemeanor drug possession convictions could be deemed to have been convicted of an aggravated felony.
