Bush Plan to be Outlined This Week
Aftermonths of delay, the Bush administration is expected to outline its latestplans for an immigration overhaul when two of the president’s Cabinetsecretaries testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week.
HomelandSecurity Secretary Michael Chertoff and Labor Secretary Elaine Chao are scheduledto be the lead-off witnesses Tuesday as the committee considers comprehensivemeasures to control undocumented migration and toughen border security. They are expected to set forth the Bush guestworker proposal that has been discussed since January, 2004.
