Immigration Statistical Mapping

The Office of Immigration Statistics has developed a new section on its website called “Mapping Immigration.” (check the DHS website) This area consists of a series of maps that display the geographic distribution of the lawful permanent resident flow between the calendar years 1980 and 2003. Three sets of maps were created: 1) the distribution of the overall LPR flow, 2) the distribution by class of admission, adn 3) the distribution of LPRs by region and country of birth. A campanion report titled “Mapping Trends in U.S. Legal Immigration: 1980 to 2003” also has been published. The report summarizes and presents a visual analysis of the state of residence of foreign nations who became LPRs between 1980 and 2003.
