African Americans and Immigrants

The Bar Area Immigrant Rights Coalition (BAIRC) in San Francisco is creating a popular education model to bridge African Americans and immigrant communities. The group is working with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Tex) on developing a model, casting immigrant rights as the 21st century civil rights movement. In the San Francisco area, BAIRC is working with grassroots organizations such as Mujeras Unidas, Chinese Progressive Association, and San Francisco Day Laborers.
