More Local Enforcement of the Immigration Laws

The Law Libraran Blog has a nice story on “Out Thy Neighbor – Butler County (Ohio) Sheriff Asks Us to Spy on Hispanics” at http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/law_librarian_blog/2005/11/out_thy_neighbo.html It tells of a sheriff’s efforts to get local citizens riled about “illegal aliens” and report suspected undocumented immigrants to the police and supports the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act of 2005 sponsored by Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy. The blog also provides links to some relevant materials. One important question is whether, if the McCain/Kennedy bill or some other immigration reform bill is passed, will we be talking about immigration reform in another 10-20 years (or less)?
