Pew Hispanic Center to Release New Report on the Size and Characteristics of the Unauthorized Migrant Population in the U.S.
WHAT: The Pew Hispanic Center tomorrow will release a report on the size and characteristics of the unauthorized migrant population in the United States. The report by Senior Research Associate Jeffrey S. Passel will include an estimate of the current size of the unauthorized population and its rate of growth in recent years. The report will also assess the national origins, family characteristics and employment experiences of unauthorized migrants based on data from the March 2005 Current Population Survey. This section of the report estimates the size and concentration of the unauthorized workforce in various industries and occupations. Passel is a veteran demographer who helped develop the most widely-accepted methodology for making estimates of the unauthorized population.
WHEN: A telephone press conference will be held at 12:30 p.m. EST (9:30 a.m. PST), on Tuesday, March 7, with Jeffrey S. Passel, senior research associate at the Pew Hispanic Center.
