More Anti-Immigrant Agitation

Anti-Immigrant “Save San Bernadino” Initiative Up for City Council Vote Today! Joseph Turner, the founder of an anti-immigrant vigilante group called “Save Our State,” has submitted enough signatures for a divisive, anti-immigrant initiative to be heard before the San Bernadino City Council and (if the City Council rejects the measure) to be put before San Bernadino voters in a special election. Some of its many provisions would:

* Require day laborer centers to verify work authorization

* Permit any vehicle used to solicit day laborers to be impounded

* Prohibit property owners from allowing undocumented immigrants to use, rent or lease property

* Require all official city business to be done in English only On Monday, May 15, 2006, the San Bernadino City Council will vote to approve or reject this measure.
