Can Senate Reach a Compromise with the House on Reform?
Lawmakersshould be able to reach a deal this year on immigration reform, despite sharpdifferences between the Senate and the House of Representatives, Republicansenators said on Sunday.
“Itis my assessment that we can work out a middle-ground compromise,” Sen.Chuck Hagel, a Nebraska Republican, said on CNN’s “Late Edition.”
Hagel said he expects the Senate to pass acomprehensive immigration reform bill this week, setting the stage fordifficult negotiations with the House on a final package ahead of Novembercongressional elections. Click here.
