Frank Sharry–Attacked from the Right and the Left

I’m a participant in the nation’s controversial immigration policydebate. I work in Washington, D.C., for a pro-immigrant organizationtrying to convince lawmakers to enact bipartisan, comprehensiveimmigration reform.

We work with allies from across the nation and the political spectrum.We’re seeking federal legislation that will replace the dysfunctionalstatus quo with a regulatory regime that brings immigrants andimmigration out of the shadows and under the rule of law.

Having been in this debate for a quarter of a century, I’m familiarwith its fury and crosscurrents. The debate isn’t for the thin of skin.It tends to generate more heat than light. And as they say, if youcan’t take the heat…
