Iranian Visas Revoked — Politics at Work?

Amid rising tensions with Iran, U.S. officials have abruptly revoked the visas of dozens of Iranian professionals headed to a university reunion in Northern California this weekend, refusing them entry as they landed at several U.S. airports.   Click here for the LA Times story.

According to the Deptment of State, visas cannot be denied arbitrarily.  It is hard to know whether the revocation was arbitrary in this instance since the State Department will not say why the visas were revoked.
