Battle Over Phoenix Ordinance

Backers of a measure to force Phoenix police and other employees toenforce federal immigration law on Saturday vowed to fight a judge’sruling that knocked the initiative off the November 7 ballot in theArizona capital.

Randy Pullen, head of Protect Our City, said thegroup will file an appeal next week to the Arizona Supreme Court to tryto reinstate the proposal.

The measure was dropped late Fridayafter Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Janet Barton ruled the groupshould not have been allowed an additional 10 days to collectsignatures needed to place it on the general election ballot. Click here.
