Boat with Immigrants Capsizes in Aegean

A boat carrying undocumented migrants to Greece capsized just off Turkey’s coast early Sunday, and the coast guard recovered the body of one migrant and was still searching for two other missing migrants, authorities said.

The boat capsized off the coast of the Aegean resort town of Seferihisar, across the sea from the Greek island of Samos, Turkish authorities said.

The coast guard said in a statement that it has rescued 14 migrants and authorities captured another seven, who managed to swim ashore. The search for two other missing migrants were under way, it said.

The migrants were mainly Somalis and Palestinians, authorities said. The survivors were all to be detained and would likely be sent back to their home countries, they added. Click here.
