Here is a three-page report (Download citizens_without_proof.pdf ) by the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law on U.S. citizens who lack possession of documentary proof of citizenship and photo identification. Notice the footnote on page 1 that suggests the survey results may actually underestimate the total of Americans citizens who do not have readily available documentation.
