More Reaction to Charles Stimson’s Comments

n what Marjorie Cohn calls one of the most severe blows the Bush administration has dealt to our constitutional democracy, a high-ranking official of the Defense Department attacked lawyers who volunteered to represent Guantánamo detainees. The Pentagon’s Charles Stimson called on corporations to punish this type of pro bono work by forcing their lawyers to choose between lucrative retainers and representing terrorists.
