Palestinian Family Released
On Friday, we reported on the Paletinian family detained in Texas and facing deportation. Good news for the Ibrahim family! They walked free Saturday morning, greeted by a small but exuberant crowd of supporters who had been following their case for weeks. Hanan Ibrahim, 34, who is five months pregnant and four of her children, Hamzeh, 15, Rodaina, 14, Maryam, 8, and Satem, 5, were released. They were joined in an emotional reunion with another sibling, Zarah, 3, a U.S. citizen who had been separated from her family during their detention and Zarah’s uncle, Ahmad Ibrahim. Their release was triggered by a federal immigration appeals board ruling (here) decision late Friday to reopen the family’s asylum case.
