Attempted Surreptitious Entry Via Niagra Falls

Canada Immigration is holding a man who was caught on an ice floe being swept toward Niagara Falls after an apparent attempt to cross over the ice and sneak into the United States.

Guards at the Ontario Power Generation plant at Chippawa, Ont., about 1.5 kilometres upstream from the falls, heard a man screaming for help early on Saturday morning near the massive hydroelectric station’s water intake gates.

When they went down to the riverfront to investigate, they found the man drifting toward the plant on a small chunk of ice and clinging to an inflatable air mattress.
