One Farmer on Immigration Reform
David Mas Masumoto, an organic farmer in Fresno and author of the beautifully writen book Epitaph for a Peach: Four Seasons on My Family Farm (1996), has an interesting take on immigration reform. Matsumoto cautions that growers should not just see immigration reform as a way of getting access to labor. Rather, new workers will make demands on growers to recognize worker rights.
