Immigration judges behaving badly — Again!
In an April 6 article of the National Law Journal, Pamela A. MacLean writes that, depsite instructions last year from the Attorney General to clean up its act, the Justice Department still appears to be having trouble controlling the excesses of some of its immigration judges. In two separate decisions on Monday affecting religious persecution and violence toward homosexuals, the 7th and 8th Circuits criticized two different judges, and the 7th Circuit went so far as to refer the judge for potential discipline by the Justice Department. The decions are Floroiu v. Gonzales (http://bibdaily.com/pdfs/Floroiu%207%204-2-07.pdf) and Shahinaj v. Gonzales (http://bibdaily.com/pdfs/Shahinaj%208%204-2-07.pdf).
