Lawsuit Filed Alleging that U.S. Citizen Illegally Deported From Jail Is Missing in Mexico

The ACLU of Southern California (here) claims that federal immigration officers and the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department illegally deported a U.S. citizen last month.  The citizen, who is developmentally disabled and does not read or write English well, was born in Los Angeles and raised in Lancaster, California.  While serving time for trespassing, a misdemeanor offense, he was deported to Tijuana in early May.  He reportedly does not know anyone in Tijuana and and is now missing in Mexico.  The ACLU/SC and the law firm of Van Der Hout, Brigagliano & Nightingale will be filing a lawsuit in federal court seeking his safe return.
