Immigration and Cuban Baseball Players
It is baseball season and many of us are immersed in America’s national pasttime. Baseball is somewhat akin to a religion in Cuba and that small island nation has some great players, many of whom are coming to the United States despite severe travel restrictions imposed by the Cuban government. The LA Times (here) has an interesting story about the increasing numbers of Cuban baseball players, dreaming of becoming the next Orlando (El Duque) Hernandez of the New York Mets, coming to the US in recent years.
