GOP Presidential Debate in Spanish Cancelled
In early August, we reported that Univision planned to hold a Republican Presidential debate in Spanish and translated in English. Univision had been planning two presidential debates – one on Sept. 9 for the Democrats and the other on Sept. 16 for the Republicans. All the Dems seeking the presidential nomination said yes. But among the Republicans, only Arizona Sen. John McCain said he’d be in Miami for the event. (Now what does this tell you about the two parties?) So today the Miami Herald is reporting that the Spanish language network – which is planning to simultaneously translate the groundbreaking political show – scrapped the Republican debate, while holding out the possibility that it could be rescheduled.
