Arizona and Other Police Groups Want to Limit Local Involvement in Immigration Enforcement
The Arizona Republic reports that the Arizona Association of Police Chiefs, the Major Cities Chiefs Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police all have issued statements recently in support of policies that limit immigration enforcement. Ralph Tranter, executive director of the Arizona association, said that the solution to illegal immigration requires a comprehensive approach. Otherwise, local resources will be wasted helping federal authorities deport illegal immigrants who turn around and cross the border illegally.
