(Immigration) Music Break

Margaret Taylor shared with the Immprof listserve a song “City of Immigrants” by Steve Earle from his new CD Washington Square Serenade. See the song on video here. Margaret Stock points out that Earle also wrote a military wartime naturalization song called “Dixieland.” It is about Irish immigrants fighting in the 20th Maine under Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain at the battle of Gettysburg.
