Moderator: Professor James Hathaway Panelists: Anwar Aljebir, Sarnata Reynolds (Amnesty International), Elizabeth Campbell (Refugee Council USA), Amelia Templeton (“Lifeline for Iraqi Refugees Project” at Human Rights First), Kirk Johnson (The List Project), Kalyanee Mam (Iraq Refugee Documentary) Sponsored by: The Middle Eastern and North African Law Students Association, Student Network for Asylum and Refugee Law The Iraq Refugee Documentary project will be screening the trailer for their documentary, “Between Earth & Sky” that follows the hopes and struggles of Iraqi refugees in Jordan and Syria, as well as in the Kurdish regions in northern Iraq. This documentary is part of a greater effort to raise awareness of the horrific situation of Iraqi refugees and the dangers faced by displaced persons across Iraq and to mobilize action to support the increased admission of Iraqi refugees into the United States. The panel discussion that will follow will further engage the audience with more stories and information about the magnitude of the Iraqi refugee crisis and connect the audience with ways in which they can also become actively involved in making a difference.
