Bush Administration Ignoring VAWA?

The Texas Observer reports that, although President George W. Bush in January 2006 signed the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which offers protections to undocumented immigrants who are victims of domestic violence. Immigration lawyers claim that the Bush administration is ignoring the law.

The article quotes Houston lawyer Diana Velardo, who has spent much of her career defending battered women and children in similar situations. She oversees the immigration law clinic at the University of Houston Law Center.
