Persons of Japanese Ancestry in Mexico During WWII
For a fascinating story of the little-known Japanese-Mexican community before and after WWII in Mexico, click here. Of course, the forced relocation of Japanese families living in the United States to internment camps during WWII is well documented. In contrast, the fate of Japanese families in Mexico during this era (as well as Canada) is virtually unknown. Those living in towns along the northern border and coast also were forced from their homes. A new documentary “El México más cercano a Japón / The Closest Mexico to Japan” focuses on this history.
