What Does It Mean that the Restrictionists Are Unhappy with the Presidential Candidates?
The L.A. Times reports that, with neither of the Presidential candidates sharing their stance on the issue, advocates of stricter immigration policies are working at the city, state and congressional levels to accomplish restrictionist ends. The two candidates for the nation’s top office, Senators Barack Obama and John McCain, both have taken immigration stands at various times with which the leading restrictionist groups disagree.
It is telling that the two Presidential candidates won their respective nominations by NOT exploiting the immigration issue. Doesn’t this suggest that most Americans want a rational and reasoned response to modern-day immigration?
