Only in America!!!!!!!!!! Son of Undocumented Immigrant Wins Gold for USA

Given the sadness we report on so often on this blog, it is good to have a “feel good” story every once in a while.  And here (and here) one is!  Henry Cejudo, the son of undocumented immigrants, defeated Tomohiro Matsunaga of Japan to win the 121-pound freestyle wrestling final on Tuesday.  And he is not sure he will ever remove the gold medal around his neck!  The USA Wrestling program trained the 21-year-old Cejudo to become the youngest gold medalist in United States wrestling history.

Cejudo’s mother. Nelly Rico, who came to the United States from Mexico as an undocumented immigrant, raised seven children by herself and left Los Angeles with them in the middle of the night to escape their father.
