University of Arkansas to Open Immigration Law Clinic
Immigrants are everywhere — even in Arkansas! Here is piece of evidence number 1001. The University of Arkansas School of Law is opening an Immigration Law Clinic on January 12. Professor
Elizabeth Young will be the new clinic.
Actually, it has long been known that Arkansas has experienced a large increase in its immigrant population, with many immigrants laboring in the meat and poultry industry, over the last 20 years. Indeed, in no small part due to immigration, Arkansas saw its Hispanic population as a percentage of the total population increase dramatically from 1990 to 2000. And, not surprisingly, Latinos have alleged that Arkansas law enforcement has engaged in racial profiling (see here).
