AG Holder to Reconsider Compean

Soon-to-be Attorney General Eric Holder reportedly has said that he would rexamine the Compean ruling, one of Attorney General Mukasey’s last major immigration rulings. The ruling greatly restricted ineffective assistance of counsel claims. “Holder said he understands the desire to expedite immigration court proceedings, but the Constitution also requires that proceedings be fair.”
