BREAKING NEWS: HOMER SIMPSON JOINS THE MINUTEMEN — I MEAN THE STAR-SPANGLED GOOFBALLS!
Do not miss The Simpsons Season Finale tonight! In the episode “Coming To Homerica,” Homer and his buds Carl and Lenny don “Star-Spangled Goofball” t-shirts and patrol the Springfield border to protect the city from “alien invaders” who are stealing jobs from Springfieldians. Here is a synopsis of the episode: “When nearby Ogdenville’s economy crumbles due to tainted barley discovered in Krusty’s veggie burgers, the unemployed workers of Ogdenville flock to Springfield. After Mayor Quimby closes Springfield’s borders and enlists private citizens to help patrol them, Homer organizes a border patrol group.”
Only on The Simpsons!
UPDATE: “Coming to Homerica” was an inspired episode, well worth watching. And the Seaons Finale of King of the Hill, immediately following The Simpsons, also had immigration-related themes. Here is the synopsis of “Good Uh-Oh Canada”: “After Boomhauer trades houses with a Canadian family for the summer the Arlen gang tries to make some new neighbors at feel welcome. However it soon becomes apparent that Canadians and Arlenites do not see eye to eye.” The show ends with Hank and his friends helping get his hapless Canadian neighbor out of jail, who Arlen police had kept locked up because he is a “criminal alien” who had violated the law.
