Is It About Time for a National Identification Card?
The L.A. Times reports that “[a] `forgery-proof’ worker ID card, secured with biometric data such as fingerprints, is a favored idea of the new chairman of the Senate immigration subcommittee, Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.).” This is sure to stir up controversy. A national identification card has been suggested in the past. Is it a part of the comprehensive immigration reform that the nation needs?
