Undocumented Immigrants and the Right to Marry: Loving v. Virginia Redux?

It appears that same-sex marriages are not the only marriages today that are hard to come by in some parts of the United States.  County clerks in a number of states have refused to issue marriage licenses to undocumented immigrants. The clerks argue that federal law requires marriage license applicants to provide a Social Security number, something that undocumented immigrants are not eligible for.  Here is an article explaining why states cannot deny marriage licenses to undocumented immigrants.
